Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy®~ Known as the "deepest most luxurious massage on the planet" A form of deep tissue barefoot massage brought from India, Japan, and the Philippines. The majority of barefoot massage is done on a floor mat with the head turned to the side. Sometimes a chair, bamboo rod, or pole is used to hold on to for balance. Ruthie Piper Hardee is the founder of Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy® and places two parallel bars above the massage table for stability. The therapist uses gravity and effluerage foot strokes to get deeper into the muscle tissue. This type of massage is typically associated with Shiatsu (finger pressure). "ashi" means foot and "atsu" means pressure. 1 of 4 therapists in Missouri Certified in AOBT **Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy® is the original and is different from other techniques operating under a similar name.** Reflexology for Feet and Hands~~ Improves blood circulation and works to unblock nerve impulses and pathways. Certain parts of the hands and feet are massaged. Swedish Massage~~ Involves the 5 basic strokes of Swedish massage: effluerage, the hands lightly glide over the skin to help spread massage lotion and helps the client get used to the practitioners touch, petrissage, when the hands grab the muscle tissue in a twisting motion similar to kneading bread, vibration, the bottom of the palm is placed on the muscle and the practitioner pivots the wrist left to right in a fast motion, friction, practitioner uses fingertips, knuckles, or massage tool and moves slowly along the muscle using more pressure to get deeper into the muscle tissue and tapotement, practitioner cups their hands and in a rhythmic movement up and down the body, similar to percussion, usually used at the end of the session. ~~Deep Tissue~~ Massage that applies more pressure to get deeper into the muscle layers. Depending on therapist other methods may be applied. Hot/ Cold Stone Massage~~ Stones are placed on key points of the body. This allows deep direct heat which will relax the muscles. If there is an injury or a swollen muscle then chilled marble stones would be use. Otherwise cold stones are applied to the face to help firm skin. Consultation with practitioner is recommended before this modality. |
